Kate Winslet

Kate Winslet received a lot from Titanic, but not everything was good. After the release of the cult romance movie in 1997, the actress talked candidly about her struggles to deal with her newfound celebrity at the age of 22.

In a recent conversation with  the PORTER website Kate Winslet stated, “I felt like I had to look a certain way or be a certain thing, and because media intrusion was so significant at that time, my life was quite unpleasant.”  Instead of choosing to star in big Hollywood blockbusters, Winslet went a different route, which she was sometimes criticized for.

In a recent interview, Kate Winslet discussed how reporters questioned her about her career decisions following the release of Titanic. She said, “You could have done anything after the Titanic, but you chose to do these small things,” journalists would frequently ask. “Yeah, you bet your fuckin’ life I did! Because, guess what, being famous was horrible.”

Kate Winslet reiterated that she “didn’t want to be followed feeding ducks,” even if she was “grateful” for the movie’s success, particularly since she was “able to get a flat” in her early 20s.

Kate will next star in the mini-series The Regime which is scheduled to stream on HBO and MAX in the U.S. and later will stream in the UK in April.
