Kalatapaswi Vishwanath garu passed away at 92 ..

Legendary director K Vishwanath garu passed away in Hyderabad. He was 92 and was suffering from age-related issues and breathed his last at his residence in Hyderabad. This news has come in as a shock as just a few days back, he was seen giving an interview to a local TV channel.

Commonly known as Kalatapaswi, he started his career in the year 1951 as an assistant director for the Telugu-Tamil Film Pathala Bhairavi. In 1965, his debut directorial was a Telugu film titled Aatma Gowravam. After making a string of films, he became a star director with the award-winning classic Sankarabharanam, which is still considered to be one of his best works.

The star director has made many films dealing with a wide range of human and social issues: Saptapadi, Sirivennela, Sutradharulu, Subhalekha, Sruthilayalu, Subha Sankalpam, Aapadbandhavudu, Swayam Krushi, and Swarnakamalam have lead characters representing a different way of society. Some of his best works included Swathi Kiranam, Swathi Muthyam, Swayamkrushi, SiriVennela, Sagara Sangamam and many more.

He also directed Hindi films like Eshwar, Sanjog, Sur Sangam, Sangeet, Dhanwan and many more. The entire Indian film industry is paying rich tribute to this legend who has won several national and international awards. He has a close association with the likes of Chiranjeevi and Kamal Haasan. New-age directors like Trivikram consider K Vishwanath as their Guru. His funeral will be held today as per the news. Well, we at Filmify convey rich tributes to his family for their loss.
