The Trial is an Indian adaptation of a nerve-wracking TV series that lasted from 2009 to 2016. Kajol has brought that masterpiece closer, more accessible to the Indian Cinema by choosing to be a part of the Hindi version. About The Good Wife, it is a drama starring Emmy Award winner Julianna Margulies as a wife and mother who must assume full responsibility for her family and re-enter the workforce after her husband’s very public sex and political corruption scandal lands him in jail.
The movie will be released on Disney+ Hotstar on July 04, 2023.
In the trailer launch event, Kajol gracefully sits cross-legged in a red dress and says, “Honestly, it was a slam dunk for me because I have watched the original show. And I loved it at that point of time. And that’s where the discussion with Deepak (Dhar, Founder & CEO, Banijay Asia) actually came in. The character was amazing. The concept was fabulous. But I did have a question as to how it would be adapted in Hindi. And that’s where Suparn (S Varma, Showrunner and Director for Disney+ Hotstar’s The Trial) came in. And that’s where the entire narration came in for the script. For me, it really is about the script. It has to be about the script. I will say this right now that the script is never about only one character. It’s always about everybody. So everybody’s character in this series is so well-rounded, so well-written. And I really, really loved the script. So yeah, my script is my king.”

Another says, “Kajol finally got a role that shows her talent”. There’s at least a hundred comments that are saying Kajol looks the same today as she did as Simran in DDLJ, which we all agree to!
