Jailer movie gets in legal trouble because of its title

Rajinikanth, who has done more in his career than an army can combined, is starring in the upcoming  big-ticket film Jailer. Just a few days ago, its Kaavaalaa song was released which is spreading on the internet like wildfire. However, there’s some issues with the title name. The word ‘Jailer’ means someone who is in-charge of the people put in jail. Since that’s the title, it has created a unique expectation in the fans. There’s no updates about the storyline or the trailer yet, which is making the mystery deadly. However, people are demanding a title change, at least in Kerala.

In Kerala, another Malayalam movie is being released at the same time with the same title. The Malayalam film in question stars Dhyan Sreenivasan and is touted to be a period thriller. Sakkir Madathil and N K Mohammad are the director and producers of the film. Hence, even if there’s a title change for the movie, it’ll be exclusively in Kerala. It’s noteworthy that the scripts of both the Jailers have nothing in common. The decision is made just to avoid confusion and clash in the audience.

But, the conflict arises as Sakkir shares that the Tamil Jailer filmmakers are not ready to change the name, even as a one-state exception. The debate is that the Malayalam Jailer is a smaller-scaled film compared to the Tamil one, so if they both launch with the same name, the Tamil one will of course have an added advantage. On the flip side, Tamil team says the Malayalam one is starring Mohanlal – the biggest superstar of Mollywood so there should be no loss seen on the movie’s BO collections.

If Tamil movie Jailer’s title was to change, what would you guess it to be?
