Jackie Chan to headline the sequel to his hit flick, The Myth

Jackie Chan has signed the sequel to his 2005 blockbuster, The Myth. The movie is reportedly titled ‘The Legend’. Stanley Tong, who directed The Myth, will also be directing the sequel.

The movie also stars Yixing Zhang and Coulee Nazha alongside Jackie Chan. The upcoming sequel will be allocated a budget of $50 million which is considered large for the Chinese film industry. The movie is helmed by Bona Film Group and it will make its market debut in Cannes with Taiwan-based Distribution Workshop to handle worldwide sales.

Stanley Tong and Jackie collaborated earlier for a few movies such as The Police Story, The Rumble in the Bronx, and Vanguard.

The Myth is a 2005 Hong Kong—Chinese martial arts fantasy adventure that starred Mallika Sherawat and Kim Hee Sun opposite Jackie Chan and  Tony Leung Ka-Fai in a key role. The movie, when it was released, became  Hong Kong’s third-highest-grossing film of the year and reached a worldwide total of $120 million.

Jackie Chan, a legendary martial artist, and a renowned actor, has always amazed us with his stunts, impeccable acting, and hilarious comic timing. There is no sign of him slowing down his career. The veteran actor is also reprising his roles in two other sequels – as Inspector Lee in Rush Hour 4 and as Chan Kwok-Wing in New Police Story 2.  The actor was last seen in Ride on, a 2023 Chinese action drama.
