Before Richard Lewis became famous as a comedian, he was an American actor and writer. Anything But Love, Robin Hood: Men In Tights and Curb Your Enthusiasm are some of his greatest hits of all time. At the age of 75, he has still managed to sustain his net worth of seven million. He has given us many such Hollywood hits like Leaving Las Vegas, Hugo Pool, Vamps, and The Danger Of Life. Later, he started his career as a standup comedian. His earliest video goes back 13 years if searched on YouTube and he’s been making people laugh longer than that. He is widely known for his dark and, self-deprecating humor.
Life, however, also has a vexing sense of humor, almost backfiring in a manner, too dark to laugh about. Two years ago, this amazing American actor was diagnosed with Parkinson’s – a disease that has grabbed the headlines more times than it should. Scientifically, it is a brain disorder that causes unintended or uncontrollable movements, such as shaking, stiffness, and difficulty with balance and coordination.
Back in April 2023, he posted on Twitter, mentioning his change of plans because of the havoc Parkinson’s has caused in his life.

Richard said he had 4 surgeries one after the other 3.5 years ago – in his back, his shoulder, then a shoulder replacement surgery and lastly a hip replacement surgery. In his own words, he informed, “2 years ago, I started shuffling my feet and I went to a neurologist who gave me a brain scan and they diagnosed me with Parkinson’s disease.”
He concluded his video-clip with “I’m done with stand-up, now I’ll focus on writing and acting. I have Parkinson’s but I’m under the doctor’s care and everything is cool.”
Doctors said that he got Parkinson’s very late in his life (for once, being late proved fruitful) and has a very slow progression.
Keeping Richard in prayers, netizens are hoping to see a lot of him before Mother nature chooses to blanket him in her embrace.
