“He wanted to see my underwear” – PC discloses the ugly side of this Bollywood director

Priyanka Chopra – the Bollywood actress – has represented India across the globe with her fiery entry in Hollywood with My City in 2014. She became famous after the hit American TV series Quantico in 2016. Currently, she’s celebrating the success of Citadel.

Very quickly, PC was able to stand her ground in the West. At first, people judged her stating she’s just greedy for money and Americans, she just wants attention or that she doesn’t represent the ‘culture’ of India because of her clothes. But, it’s only Priyanka who knows why she took the step of quitting Bollywood.

With The Zoe Report – a digital media property delivering fashion, beauty and lifestyle content – Priyanka revealed a dehumanizing experience in her budding years. Her role was that of an undercover agent where she was seducing the guy. She was asked to strip but Priyanka wanted to layer up. On that, the director said, “No, I need to see her underwear. Otherwise why is anybody coming to watch this movie?”

Chopra Jonas expresses how she felt objectified and how art wasn’t considered important. “It was a feeling of, I’m nothing else outside of how I can be used, my art is not important, what I contribute is not important.”

Two days later, she resigned from the role and returned the money because she couldn’t look at the director every day, knowing he perceives her as a flesh of seduction, not a human with talent.

After countless experiences like these, Priyanka was too exhausted to put up with Bollywood’s politics and drama. She was cornered unfairly, something she consciously chose not to tolerate.

Many Indian artists – particularly females – go through emotional and physical harassment on sets to get paid equal to the male co-actor or get a ‘big break’. But how many speak against this dark truth of the Indian Cinema?
