Despite having been in Superhero films for more than a decade, Gwyneth Paltrow took a jab at the recent increase in their popularity.
The Marvel star spoke on the YouTube discussion show Hot Ones about her long career and the current state of the film industry.
During the conversation, host Sean Evans asked the star what she thought of American Fiction director Cord Jefferson’s recent comments at the Oscars.
In response to the query, the Seven actress replied, “I absolutely understand where he’s coming from.”
Paltrow added, “You want the best likelihood of having a strong ROI. People invest a lot of money in these enterprises, and they want them to be lucrative. The industry’s focus on reaching a large audience can limit the quality and uniqueness of superhero films.
For those who missed the Academy Awards this year, Jefferson essentially pushed companies to consider developing 20 films per $10 million cheaper films rather than constantly opting for the ‘one $200 million’ feature.
