Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ booked its phenomenal win at the 23rd IIFA Awards! IT got 5 awards in different categories.
Sanjay Leela Bhansali is an Indian filmmaker, director, screenwriter, and music composer who is known for his work in Hindi cinema. He is the recipient of several awards, including four National Film Awards, ten Filmfare Awards and a BAFTA nomination. In 2015, the Government of India honoured him with the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian award. Now in 2023, his film ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ has earned 5 awards in International Indian Film Academy Awards (IIFA) 2023.
‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ has won awards for Best Actor in Leading Role (Female) – Alia Bhatt, Best Debut (Male) – Shantanu Maheshwari, Best Screenplay, Sanjay Leela Bhansali and Utkarshini Vashishtha, Best Dialogue – Utkarshini Vashishtha and Prakash Kapadia and Best Cinematography – Sudeep Chatterjee. Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ truly emerged as a breakthrough film that set examples of its success and in its theatrical run, the film grossed 153.69 Cr. at the domestic box office and 209.77 Cr. globally. The film also booked its success at different award ceremonies as at the 68th Filmfare Awards, the film received a leading 16 nominations and won leading 10 awards, including Best Film, Best Director, and Best Actress for Bhatt.
