Back in 2013, Fukrey had become the benchmark of comedy because of epic delivery by each character present in the film. It’s one thing to have one person in the film to take the responsibility of humour throughout the movie, but when all of them are funny? They become the game, not the players. With talented artists like Richa Chadha, Pulkit Samrat, Varun Sharma, Priya Anand, and Manjot Singh, Fukrey did so well in theatres that a sequel had to be launched. 10 years from then, the hype still hasn’t gone down. Fukrey 3 was all set to release on November 24th of this year until another movie chose to steal its limelight.
The Archies by Zoya Akhtar that is starring SRK’s daughter Suhana Khan is now entering OTT on November 24th. Although Fukrey 3 will be in Cinemas, not wanting to clash both the movies is just one reason to delay the launch. Reportedly, producers have to abide by the calendar laid down by Netflix and at this point of time, The Archies is slated to release on November 24 on the digital platform. It’s going to be back-to-back releases for Excel in November and December.
Another reason is more sentimental in nature. Sources have said, “Fukrey Returns was also a December release and the team wishes to bring the third instalment of this cult comedy also in the winter period. Two dates were discussed aggressively in the meetings over the last few weeks – December 1 and December 8, with most of the stakeholders favouring a December 1 release. An announcement is round the corner,”
Fukrey 3 has actors that are more on the underrated side of Bollywood. And to release such a movie in the middle of Tiger 3 by Salman Khan and Dunki by SRK is a big leap of faith in itself, but life and business are all about uncertainty and risks, aren’t they? Let the best movie win!
