Even after powerful promotions, has Abhishek Bachchan’s Ghoomer fallen flat in the face?

Abhishek Bachchan’s Ghoomer

ABhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher’s newly released movie Ghoomer is about to finish a week worth of shelf life in theatres. The promotional events have been rather intelligent by the team to pull more people to the seats for the remuneration. Undoubtedly, the Ghoomer crew making the effort of inviting the specially abled children and sportspeople to the promotions and screenings is a heartwarming moment to witness, but unfortunately, it still hasn’t done it’s part of the marketing job like it was originally expected to.

In 6 days, R Balki’s Ghoomer hasn’t collected more than 4 crores. The making cost was only 20 crores, however, for the movie to reimburse less than a quarter of the amount in a week is disheartening. R Balki’s movies Mission Mangal, Pad Man, English Vinglish, Ki & Ka and Dear Zindagi have done exceptionally well, both review and money-wise. Balki is known for experimenting with every movie he directs. But with this one, things didn’t work out in his favour.

If we dig deep into the reviews, the movie has multiple easily visible loopholes that don’t tie the loose ends of a string together, constantly giving the audience a reality-check that this is, in fact, a ‘fictional’ movie that lacks logic. Acting-wise, Abhishek Bachchan and Saiyami Kher deserve a round of applause for their on-screen skills but the movie fell flat in the face because of poor script, cinematography and direction.

Consequently, the blame is again falling on Abhishek Bachchan’s shoulders for being a ‘flop show’ but matter-of-factly, it’s not always his acting that’s a setback, it’s his luck that he ends up landing faulty movies that lack the artistic intelligence it needs to deliver a movie in perfection.
