Megastar Chiranjeevi has honoured with a prestigious award, for his outstanding Contribution to the Indian Film industry. The Central government of India announced Indian Personality-2022 Award. The central government announced the award at the International Film Festival of India in Goa on Sunday.
The award has been given since 2013 on the occasion of the completion of 100 years of Indian cinema. The awardee will be presented with a silver medal with a peacock figure, Rs.10 lakhs, and a certificate.
The Union information and broadcasting minister Anurag Thakur said the award is an acknowledgment of the actor’s multi-decade contribution as an actor, dancer, and producer in Indian cinema.
So far Waheeda Rahman, Rajinikanth, Ilayaraja, SP Balasubrahmanyam, Amitabh Bachchan, Salim Khan, Biswajit Chatterjee, Hema Malini, Prasoon Joshi have received this award. As a Telugu film actor, Chiranjeevi acted in more than 150 films. Chiru is the first person from Tollywood who got this prestigious award and he is absolutely the Pride of Indian Cinema.
