Apoorva Lakhia met Ram Charan on the sets of the latter’s Bollywood debut film. The RRR star starred in a Hindi film titled Zanjeer in 2013 alongside Priyanka Chopra. The movie was directed by Lakhia and since then, the two have remained good friends. Though the film didn’t perform well at the box office, the bond between them did not change.
The director has recently opened up about his relationship with Ram Charan. In an interaction with Siddharth Kannan, the director shared, “Ram Charan is a really good friend of mine. In fact, even though Zanjeer did not perform well (at the box office), I have visited him at his house (in Hyderabad) and stayed with him many times. But now, he doesn’t pick my phone calls. Pata nahi, badal gaya hai phone ke nahi… His wife (Upasana) replies but not him.”
When asked if Ram Charan messaged him during RRR, Lakhia revealed that the actor had called him for help from Ukraine during the RRR shoot but he could not go due to prior engagements. “That was the last time I think I spoke to him and he calls me randomly but he doesn’t answer my calls.” the director added. The director has stated that he understands that the actor is busy
