Another Tragedy In Tollywood, Actor Chalapathi Rao Passes Away

Famous actor Chalapathi Rao (79) died of a heart attack on Saturday night. With this, just in the span of three days, Tollywood lost two legends Kaikala Satyanarayana and then Chalapathy Rao, that left the whole film industry in tragedy.

Chalapati Rao was born on 8th May 1944 and his hometown is Balliparru village in Krishna district. He had a son Ravi Babu and two daughters, Malinidevi and Sridevi. His son Ravi Babu is Popular as Both actor and director. He directed a few popular films like Aamailu Abbailu, Avunu and Anasuuya and also acted in many films.

Chalapathi Rao left his mark as a comedy actor, character artist and also as villain in many Telugu films. He has acted in almost 1200 films and has also worked as a producer for 7 films. Chalapathi Rao also starred as Sutaraju (Karna) and Indra in the film Dana Veera Sura Karna with senior actor NTR.

Chalapati Rao died of a heart attack in the early hours of today. His body was kept at his son Ravi Babu’s house in MLA Colony. The body will be moved to Maha Prasthanam this afternoon at 3 pm and kept in a freezer. Reportedly, on the arrival of his daughter, who is staying in America, the last rites will be performed in Maha Prasthanam on Wednesday.
