An Oscar-winning actress and activist signed on as executive producer of ” We Dare to Dream”, the sports documentary film directed by Waad AI Kateb.
We Dare to Dream tells the story of young athletes from Iran, South Sudan, Afghanistan, Syria, and Cameroon who competed together under the banner of the IOC refugee team at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The film has its world premiere at the Tribeca International Film Festival on Sunday.
Jolie is a United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) Goodwill Brand Ambassador. She is very vocal about child rights and women’s rights across the globe. She pushed UNHCR and the U.S. government for legislation to aid child immigrants and other vulnerable children in the U.S. and developing countries. She was the first recipient of the Citizen of the World Award from the United Nations.
Jolie also produced the program ”My World” which aims to teach teenagers how to think critically about what they read and how to tell high-quality journalism from bad, and released a children’s rights book titled ”Know your rights and claim them”.
