Akshay Kumar Bags Disaster With Remake

Akshay Kumar’s Selfiee released on Feb 24th has not been performing well at the box office. Even on its second day, the film refused to perk up at the ticket windows. As per estimates, it collected ₹3.25 crore on Saturday.

A biggie collecting just over 6 crores net in its two days has shocked the trade and Bollywood. “This is probably the first time that the film has become a disaster at the box office so quickly,” the report stated and added that the film might record a ₹10 crore weekend.

Selfiee is an official Hindi remake of the Malayalam film Driving License, which starred Prithviraj and Suraj Venjaramoodu in the lead roles. While the fact that the remakes aren’t performing well these days is attributed as one reason, a few say that people are looking forward to watching great films only after the pandemic. Akshay Kumar has facing back to back failures in recent times and takes full responsibility for that.

Helmed by Raj Mehta, the film stars Akshay Kumar, Emraan Hashmi, Nushrratt Bharuccha, and Diana Penty in the lead roles.
