This is bad news for the cinephiles. Senior actor Prathap Pothen is no more. He passed away of a heart attack at midnight on Thursday in his flat. This news came as a shock to the entire cine fraternity. Fans and celebrities are posting their condolences on social media. Prathap was born in a well-to-do businessman family. But, because of his passion for movies, he entered the colourful industry with the Malayalam film Aaravam. He acted in nearly 100 movies in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Some of his most famous movies are Aakali Rajyam, Kanchana Ganga, Justice Chakravarthy, Chukkallo Chandrudu, Maro Charitra, Vedevadu etc. In most of the movies, he acted as a sidekick to the protagonist role.
Prathap married Actress Radhika in 1985. Due to some personal differences, they both divorced within one year of their marriage. He was a director, screenwriter, producer, ad film-maker etc alongside being an actor. He was born on August 13th, 1952 in Kerala. Though his demise comes as a shock to everyone, there is another shocking observation in his life. Just before a few days, July 11 to be specific, the actor posted John Donne’s quote about death on his Facebook. Its context is that death is not the end but waking up in eternal life. This comes as a real shocker to everyone with a lot of questions in mind. Did Pratap know about his death in advance? No one will know. May his soul rest in peace.
