2018 becomes Mollywood’s highest grossing film; surpasses Lucifer

2018 is breaking through the headlines because of its blockbuster reach globally. The movie has cast Tovino Thomas, Kunchacko Boban, Asif Ali, and Vineeth Sreenivasan along with other supporting characters. About the storyline, this project’s synopsis is people from all walks of life face catastrophic consequences during devastating floods in 2018. The people of Kerala work together to survive the calamity. The movie hit the theatre screens on May 5, 2023. In just 10 days, it completed 100 crores box office collection target. With this achievement, it has surpassed the blockbuster Mollywood movie Lucifer with a collection of 200 crores so far.

The movie is a Malayalam survival thriller by Jude Anthnay Joseph, who wrote the screenplay with Akhil P Dharmajan. The film was earlier set for a theatrical release on April 21 but was then postponed. Although a delay in release, the movie was released to a thumping response at the box office. The movie is continuing to mint money.

The movie made more than Rs 125 Crore within 15 days of its release, becoming the highest-grossing Malayalam film of the year and dethroning Lucifer, the second-highest Malayalam film of all time, to date. Now if 2018 could surpass the collection of Pulimurugan, which is again Mohanlal’s film, Jude Anthony’s film will become the all-time highest-grosser.
