$15,000 bond imposed on Taylor Swift’s stalker – Accused says he wants to wear a bomb

Taylor Swift, the American singer and songwriter who is more applauded for her lyricist skills than her vocals. If Taylor was paid a dollar for every single word she wrote, she’d have thrice as much money as she does right now. And if we were to count how many people’s lives have genuinely changed because of what she brings to the table, it’d be at least half the world. With such a fan club, with so many people who love her, there are also people who go one step ahead in the course of love, which we call ‘obsession’. And obsessions are not always as flattering as they sound. Soon enough, it takes the form of shameless stalking that is utterly bothersome for any celebrity because after all, they’re humans who need their space, too.

Something along the lines happened with the Blank Space singer. LaPorte County Jail states that 36-year-old Mitchell Taebel was handcuffed on June 2 under charges of stalking, intimidation, invasion of privacy, and harassment at Swift’s house in Tennessee, United States. The affidavit hasn’t directly mentioned Taylor Swift’s name due to confidentiality reasons, but the description of the victim provided makes it crystal clear. Eras tour, Joe Alwyn and 13 Management (Taylor Swift’s management team) are some keywords found in the document, enough to tell us who it is.

About the culprit, the statement mentions that the stalker sent voice notes to Swift on March 29 that were inappropriate and threatening in nature. Shockingly, these weren’t harmless, empty messages like is usually the case with keyboard warriors. He threatened to wear a bomb if she didn’t agree to be with him, called her dancers and even her father. When all of that didn’t give him the heed he needed, he landed at Taylor’s house, 500 miles from Indiana. He was removed from the premises immediately but his adamant intentions didn’t budge. He landed at her concert, the entry to which was prohibited for him. On May 11, a temporary restraining order was issued, hoping the fire will put off, but it didn’t. Finally, he was arrested for continually sending messages to Taylor until May 18 and a $15,000 bond was imposed.

It’s always a great delight for public celebrities to absorb the love they receive globally. But, let’s not forget that a pubic individual also has privacy which cannot be owned. A house tour is not a free entry ticket to the celebrity’s private space.
