12th fail actor says, ‘Films like Animal should not be made’

Vikas Divyakirti, known for his role in the film “12th Fail” and as an educator, has recently expressed his strong opinions about the movie “Animal”. In an interview with Neelesh Misra during the Slow Interview series, Divyakirti candidly shared his thoughts on the controversial film. 12th fail actor says ‘Films like Animal should not be made’.

12th fail actor says about Animal:

According to Divyakirti, a film like “Animal” takes our society back by 10 years. He firmly believes that such movies are threat to society. The makers, he argues, prioritise financial gains over social responsibility. The film fails to convey any meaningful social value by portraying the hero’s behaviour as animalistic. Divyakirti questions whether monetary considerations solely drive filmmakers or if they should also consider the impact of their work on society.

One scene that caught Divyakirti’s attention was Tripti Dimri’s “Lick My Shoe” moment. He raises a pertinent question: What if young men with feudal mindsets, lacking maturity, decide to test their girlfriend’s love by asking her to lick their shoes? The film’s portrayal of such regressive themes is concerning to him. Divyakirti emphasises that creating careless and mean-spirited films like “Animal” is disheartening, wildly, when both positive and negative forces coexist.

Vikas Divyakirti, best known as the founder of an IAS coaching institute. He played himself in 12th Fail, a film directed by Vidhu Vinod Chopra. As one of the film’s writers, he brings a unique perspective to the table. His critique of “Animal” highlights the need for socially responsible filmmaking and encourages filmmakers to consider the broader impact of their work on society
