Yashraj films are one of the most prestigious banners in the entire Indian Film Industry. This banner has produced many a classic and is considered a legendary production house. Many of those classics of this banner have demand even today. Currently, one can watch all those films on Amazon Prime Video. Yashraj and Amazon have agreement regarding this for a few years. But as of now, it seems that the production house has given a shock to the OTT company. If the B-Town reports are to be believed, the contract to stream Yashraj films on Amazon has ended recently and the production house was unwilling to team up further with Prime.
They say that both companies were unable to reach a consensus regarding the amount to be paid. Amazon sources say that YRF has demanded a lot more than deemed fit. They say that the house asked for money equal to a new release film and that is not at all viable for them. The prime team is not ready to spend huge bucks on old films and is consciously looking at crazy projects, they say. Meanwhile, YRF is looking at Disney Hotstar which is ready to pay whatever amount they demanded. Even though it’s a huge deal, this is not forever. Similar to the Prime deal, it is limited to a few years and the agreement will be extended further if both parties feel it is good going forward. Well, producers of superhit movies are earning good amounts of money through this kind of deal. Adding Satellite, Dubbing, and other rights, if there are any, production is a good business nowadays, provided the film is at least a one-time watchable with the crazy combination.
