Pariyerum Perumal which is the debut of director Mari Selvaraj, where he exploded his way of storytelling in his own way. Mari Selvaraj has his own style of story telling where he expresses different type of emotions in a unique way of paintings, arts. The director’s sophomore outing, is a saga that is subversive, searing, and thrillingly surrealistic. The narrative assumes the staggering proportions of an epic, leaving you suffering an overwhelmed silence. Interestingly, the director’s first book, ‘Thamirabaraniyil Kollapadaathavargal’ had a short based on the Thamirabarani massacre of July 23, 1999.
Impelled by the horrific event, Mari’s most of works are about revolution, police brutality, communal violence. His first film Pariyerum Perumal starts with “Karuppi” character’s death, His second film Karnan film starts with Dhanush character’s sister’s death, Similarly there is a theory of director’s spectators that his third film “Maamannan” movie also starts with Vadivelu character’s death. Everything unveils when the film releases in theatres.
