Urvashi’s Big Claim: A Lie or The Next Project

Urvashi Rautela claimed she attended the Cannes Film Festival for the photocall for the Parveen Babi biopic which has her as the lead.

Along with her eccentric fashion choices in Cannes, actor Urvashi Rautela stunned many with her baseless claim that she visited the festival for the photocall premiere of her new film, which is allegedly a biopic on the late actor and pop culture icon Parveen Babi. However, the fact that the creators of the aforementioned project were not present at the photocall and that many performers attend Cannes even when their films are not premiering prompted suspicion.

According to an insider from the industry there is no buzz yet about a biopic on the life of the late star. “It is very clear that she is lying, and it is bogus news. There is no such project being made. There are no conversations around any such project in the trade circuit too,” says a source. “Also, a photocall launch without anyone from the makers side is just not possible. So, Urvashi was there all by herself, there was no producer, writer, director… So what is this photocall launch? It shows how much truth is in her claim. She has not even revealed the names of the makers. She could have said that she wants to do, or is thinking of doing, but alleging that it is being made without the name of the team is definitely not credible,” the source asserts.

The only project centred on the life of the actor from the past that has been formally revealed so far is a mini-series that is based on the book by novelist Karishma Upadhyay. The movie, which is still under development, is affiliated with producer Sneha Rajani, who has previously supported films like Piku.

When Urvashi  is asked about the clarity on the makers of the film, she didn’t give any name and insisted that the project is at a very nascent stage.
