Ranveer Singh’s 2022 film Cirkus, directed by Rohit Shetty, was a big flop at the box office. The movie was disliked by fans very much and was criticized by critics. The film stars Ranveer Singh and Varun Sharma in dual roles alongside Pooja Hegde, Jacqueline Fernandez, Johny Lever, and Sanjay Mishra.
Audiences had high expectations as it was being directed by Rohit Shetty, known for delivering blockbusters with the perfect combination of the cast. but cirkus has disaapoimented them. Rohit Shetty recently revealed why the movie was a flop.
In a recent interview, Rohit Shetty was questioned about his 2022 Cirku movie’s flop and why he made such kind of film in the first place, to which the director responded as’ “It was made during the pandemic when things were changing. Today, if I have to make that subject, I will not touch it. Sooryavanshi was not released, the Indian Police Force was about to start, and we had an eight-month gap because the pandemic was going on.”
He further added, “So what should we do? Workers were sitting at home, and we had this script for the longest time, a simple, small film. I thought, ‘Chalo bana dete hain. Workers bhi busy rahenge aur hum bhi busy rahenge (Let’s make it. Workers will stay busy and we will keep busy too). It was a studio-based film, with no cars flying, no action, no heroic entry and all.”
