Richa Chadda did this after 40 takes:

In a captivating behind-the-scenes revelation, actor Richa Chadha shared her unique approach to nailing a challenging dance sequence in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming series, “Heeramandi.” Known for her dedication and versatility, Richa faced a daunting task: performing a solo dance number while portraying the character of courtesan Lajjo. The scene required her to execute “drunk dancing” with precision and grace.

However, despite 30 to 40 retakes, Richa needed help to get the sequence right. Frustrated but determined, she decided to take an unconventional route. As a teetotaler, she rarely consumed alcohol, but she made an exception. On the first day of filming, she sipped some gin, hoping it would help her embody the inebriated movements required for the scene.

To her surprise, the alcohol didn’t enhance her performance. Instead, it made her body movements lethargic. Richa realized that she needed control over her dance, even in a drunken state. So, she adjusted her approach. Rather than actually getting tipsy, she pretended to be drunk. This allowed her to strike a delicate balance between precision and grace, ensuring that her movements remained authentic.

The stellar cast with the magical essence of Sanjay leela Bansali made the series more special. The life of Tawaifs were beautifully portrayed by the cast and Sanjay Leela Bansali made it a classic.
