Rakul Preet Singh is the most talented actress who adds her contribution not only to Bollywood, but also in Kollywood and Tollywood. Neena Gupta, on the other hand, is predominantly a TV serial actress but has given significant portions of her talent to cinema as well, exclusively in Bollywood. And when two supremely skilled actresses, one from the previous generation and one from the current generation join hands for a movie, you can only assume the amount of explosion it can make at the box office.
Reportedly, there’s tea that Rakul Preet Singh and Neena Gupta are going to collaborate for an upcoming movie under the direction of Ashish R. Shukla. The movie is going to be a comedy thriller like Darlings, and the groundwork will be laid out from October 2023 onwards.
Ashish R Shukla is an intelligent yet underrated Bollywood director whose journey is worth listening to. In 2007 he joined Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap for his Film ‘Dev.D’ as creative head. Since then he directed a short films trilogy, ad films and documentaries. His show Candy has been awarded the prestigious Dadasaheb Phalke award for best series. His last documentary “26/11 Inside Mumbai Terror Attack” that he directed for the National Geographic channel won him the best director in Indian Telly Awards 2010.
Now, he’s coming back to experiment with a different genre with new artists on his page.
Rakul Preet Singh is an actress in her early 30s whose debut movie was Gilli in Kannada in 2009. However, gradually, she transitioned completely to Tamil and Telugu Cinema. Her debut into Bollywood was the blockbuster movie Yaariyan in 2014. Her most famous work in Bollywood was Doctor G beside Ayushmann Khurana.
Neena Gupta is in the game since the 80s. In 1982 her first movie was Saath Saath. Her career climbed up the ladder when she started doing more than 2 films per year. In the recent past, she’s been in Veere Di Wedding, Badhai Ho, Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhaan, Mrs Chattarjee Vs Norway, and Lust Stories 2. She’s greatly appreciated by the audience for taking up characters that support their kids and grandkids towards tabooed topics.
