Karthi’s Khaidi was one of the unexpected blockbusters in 2019. This Lokesh Kanagaraj directorial has led the path to a Lokiverse in which various films tend to have a single thread connecting them in a way similar to Marvel films. Few individual films which will be connected on a single point lead to a potential multi starrer are the main thought behind this. Coming to the Khaidi movie, this leads to the Lokiverse with the thread being the plot of the drug mafia.
Lokesh has brilliantly weaved his plots around this both in Khaidi and Kamal Hassan’s Vikram. Karthi’s character too was mentioned a few times in Vikram although he was not seen. After Vikram’s success, many questions arose regarding the sequel of Khaidi.
As no one is really sure about Khaidi 2 happening except for a few rumors here and there, Karthi has cleared off the air in his recent interview. In the promotions of his latest film Ponnian Selvan-1, Karthi revealed that the project is very much on. Lokesh is currently working on a project with Thalapathy Vijay and is parallelly working on Khaidi 2 as well.
The latter will begin as soon as Vijay’s film finishes, says Karthi. Which characters from Vikram will be part of this film is yet to be known. Screens will be on fire for sure if Rolex and Dilli will be seen together on screen. If the rumors are to be believed, there will be at least two more parts in the Lokiverse including Khaidi 2. Whether Vijay’s movie is also a part of this or not is to be seen.
