Toxic, starring Yash in the lead role, is the actor’s return to the big screen after the massive success of KGF: Chapter 2. However, the film project made headlines since mid-2022 about its cast and crew, especially the female lead, with so many star actors in the makers’ minds.
Previously, Kareena Kapoor Khan was reported to play the leading lady’s role in a Kannada Film alongside Yash in the film Toxic. Kareena Kapoor, one of the versatile actresses, is known for her performance in many loved films like Jab We Met, English Medium, and LaalSingh Chaddha and her recent performance in Jaane Jaan.

Since the beginning of 2024, whispers have been rampant about Kareena Kapoor Khan’s potential debut in Kannada cinema. While there was no official word, the air was thick with speculation. Kareena once also hinted at making her debut in the South Indian film Koffee With Karan by choosing Yash as her favourite.
Now, the Jaane Jaan actress, in her recent interaction with fans, the actor dropped another major hint. She said, “I might be doing a huge South film…” With this, she ‘nearly’ confirmed sharing the screen with Yash in his upcoming film Toxic. It’s all pan-India, so I don’t know where I’ll be shooting, but I’m excited for all my fans to know that it will be the first time that I will be doing this,” she added.
Yash’s Toxic Updates So Far
Toxic’s announcement came alongside a teaser video that featured Yash with a pot belly, retro hat, machine gun, and cigar. He will be seen in an anti-hero role. Toxic will be directed by Geetu Mohandas. Produced in collaboration with KVN Productions, the tagline read, “A fairytale for grown-ups.”
Significantly, Toxic marks a genre shift for director Mohandas, whose previous project was the acclaimed Malayalam film Moothon (2019), exploring themes of toxic masculinity and LGBTQ+ issues.
