Movies paying ode to other movies or shows is not something new. Complete originality is actually quite rare and not compulsory as long as the elements reused make a mark and work for the script. With Jawan’s Prevue showing SRK in a multitude of avatars, fans can’t help but notice some resemblances. One of the first shots of the trailer shows a baby being born in an all-female prison and being shown to the inmates, has a bahubali-esque feel and also reminds one of Dark Knight Rises.
SRK in a mask and the film’s social justice angle reminds us of Aparichithudu, while mummified SRK has fans screaming Moon Knight and Darkman. The metro scene where passengers are wearing the head bandage kind of feels like Money Heist or Inside Man claim netizens. The cop SRK look has fans drawing similarities to Vijay’s Theri, also directed by Atlee, leading to the hope of a cameo. Another Vijay-Atlee film reference is the girl gang troupe also seen in Bigil.
Another funny question fans seem to have is how soon into the film will Deepika die, a classic point of emotion seen in films like Theri. Some are going as far as speculating that the place where Vijay wrestles is the same as the scene where Deepika can be seen wresting a guy to the floor. On a serious note, a film producer has filed a complaint with TFPC in regard to the plagiarism of the Tamil film Perarasu. Only time will tell us if these are mere coincidences or something more!
