Special26 with Anupam and Akki
The 2013 period heist thriller film, Special 26 has achieved positive reviews from critics among those years. The movie remained one of the best finds of that genre with fans rooting for a sequel since its release.
Directed by Neeraj Pandey, the movie was also remade in Tamil titled Thaana Serndha Koottam starring Suriya and Keerthy Suresh in 2018. Pandey asked about the sequel to Special26 and confirmed in the same year that the project is in the works and is still in discussions about the titles but few got registered.
Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher played fraudsters who pose as CBI Officers became one of their successful collaborations in their films together.
In a recent interview, when asked about the sequel, the actor responded by saying “This is one of the questions I’ve been wanting to ask Neeraj for so many years. Every time I ask him for the sequel he just hides his face but I’ve been after him to make a sequel to Special 26 because it deserves a sequel but the director seems not excited about the project. Hopefully, it happens soon.”
Earlier, celebrating the completion of ten years for Special 26, Akshay Kumar and Anupam Kher discussed the possibility of a sequel on X. Akki wrote, “I’m ready if the script is ready. Asli power script mein hoti hai:)”
