Is Nani’s Hi Nanna Parallel To Shah Rukh’s Iconic Film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai?

Nani‘s Hi Nanna has received good appreciation from the audience, as the movie trailer had the potential to capture the audience and make them curious about the story. ‘Hi Nanna’ is a family romantic drama, with natural star Nani playing the role of a single parent alongside Mrunal Thakur as his love interest. The story revolves around the relationship between a single father and daughter and how their lives turn around when love knocks again at the door.

After the trailer’s release, there was much speculation about the movie being parallel to the Bollywood classic film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, with Shah Rukh Khan playing the role of a single father. Another movie was also linked to the storyline of Nagarjuna’s Santosham, where he also portrayed the role of an only father raising his child alone and falls in love with Shreya again. However, the director of the film, Shouryuv, clarifies this in an interview, stating, “These movies only come to mind because a single father finds love again in my film,” Shouryuv says, adding, “This is a fictional story based on things I’ve seen around me.” When asked why he had chosen a single father role as the male lead, he answered, “In most families, the mother becomes the primary caregiver to a child. But when a single father assumes full responsibility, I wanted to explore how his life revolves around the child. Nani plays a man who wants to be with his daughter wherever she is; his whole life is planned around hers. Nani is also a father. Although he isn’t single, I took his input to make it believable.”

Nani’s Hi Nanna is an upcoming romantic melodrama with a blend of fatherly sentiment directed by Shouryuv, starring Mrunal Thakur, Kiara Khanna, Angad Bedi, Jayaram, Shruti Hasan, and many others. The movie is all set to hit theaters on December 7.
