Nayantara‘s Annapoorani was her 75th film and was released on December 1st of, 2023. The film got in trouble after its release for hurting religious sentiments. Right from its release on OTT, the film has been getting negative responses and also hatred for promoting the love jihad idea and hurting the feelings of Hindus. Recently, an FIR was filed against the film at Omti police station.
The Annapoorani film is constantly trolled for elements that have hurt specific audience segments. In the movie, Nayantara plays the character of a Brahmin girl who aspires to become a chef. The most problem-creating scene in the film is when Annapoorni’s friend Farhaan motivates her to eat meat by saying that even Lord Ram consumes meat during canvas, and this statement aggravated the Hindus for tampering with Hindu scriptures. Recently, the Hindu Seva Parisad lodged a complaint against the film for making indecent comments about the deity Ram and also promoting the concept of ‘love jihad’. The film is also missing on Netflix, as it was removed from the platform because of the controversies. However, Nayanthara has not yet responded to the controversies and present situation.
Nayanthara will be next seen in an upcoming thriller, The Test, alongside R. Madhavan and Siddharth.
