The way this movie has made a disastrous, tripping entry into the theatres, Adipurush is surely the most searched, most typed word on the internet as of today. We’re living in an age where content becomes more viral when it’s awful and low quality compared to the pieces of beauty that have months, years of perseverance filled in. It’s no secret that now, people have purposely started creating cringeworthy content to boost their views and reach. Was Adipurush also a result of the same reverse psychology?
Speaking of the data, the statistics, this movie is shockingly doing well, it has earned more in two days than some exemplary movies do in their entire lifetime. Manoj Bajpayee, Pankaj Tripathi, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Konkona Sen Sharma, Abhay Deol, Vidyut Jammwal, Sayani Gupta, Rasika Goyal, Sanya Malhotra – there’s countless, diamond-like talented artists that can be named in Bollywood who deserved for the money to go into their pockets for the work that they do. Yet, here we are, as audience, wasting our time and money on overrated actors. Of course, they’re doing their job but investing all of our attention into just selected people from the industry is unfair and illogical. ‘Movies’ should be given preference, not the ‘cast’.
Conclusively, the internet is flooding with hate for Adipurush. But monetarily? It compensated for the making cost of the movie – like it or not, at the end of the day, that’s what matters – remuneration. So, is Adipurush a hit or a flop? Artistically, it’s an insult to the word ‘flop’. Money-wise? RIP common sense.
