Box Office Report 2024: Bollywood Films That Joined 100 Crore Club

The first quarter of 2024 wrapped up with the release of the heist comedy film “Crew,” starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon. The movie has had a promising start at the box office, grossing over Rs 10 crore in India. Given its positive reception and strong performance over the weekend, “Crew” seems poised to become a major success.

However, the overall performance of the Hindi film industry in the first quarter wasn’t particularly outstanding. Apart from a few exceptions, there were no major blockbuster hits that captivated audiences and dominated the box office.

Fighter

“Fighter,” directed by Siddharth Anand, emerged as the first blockbuster of 2024. Featuring an ensemble cast including Anil Kapoor, Hrithik Roshan, Deepika Padukone, Karan Singh Grover, and Akshay Oberoi, this aerial drama was produced by Viacom18 Studios and Marflix Pictures. “Fighter” grossed a worldwide total of Rs. 337.20 crores.

Teri Batton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya

In February, Dinesh Vijan’s Maddock Films released “Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya,” a heartwarming film exploring an ‘impossible love story’ between a human and a robot. Shahid Kapoor portrayed the role of Aaryan, a robotics engineer, while Kriti Sanon portrayed SIFRA, the robot. The film garnered Rs. 133 crores worldwide.

Article 370

Featuring Yami Gautam and Priya Mani, garnered critical acclaim and box office success. The film, set during the period of the abrogation of Article 370 in Kashmir, depicted the story of two women who played significant roles in this historic event. Produced by B62 Studios and Jio Studios, “Article 370” achieved a worldwide collection of Rs. 108.96 crores.

Shaitaan

A supernatural thriller produced by Jio Studios, Devgn Films, and Panorama Studios, hit the screens in the first quarter. Starring Ajay Devgn, R Madhavan, Jyotika, and Janki Bodiwala, the film was an official Hindi remake of the popular Gujarati film, “Vash.” It amassed Rs. 194.57 crores at the box office.

Crew

In March, “Crew,” directed by Rajesh A. Krishnan and produced by Balaji Motion Pictures and Anil Kapoor Films & Communication Network, entered theaters. Starring Tabu, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon, this heist comedy has been performing well worldwide, collecting Rs. 41.13 crores globally. While the final verdict of this film is still awaited, Crew is emerging towards of Blockbuster.
