Family Star Box Office Collections: Luke Warm Response

Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur’s latest film, ‘The Family Star,’ is experiencing a lukewarm response at the box office. Despite high anticipation, the family drama only managed to collect Rs 11 crore during its three-day opening weekend in India. Directed by Parasuram Petla, the movie has been facing a gradual decline in box office earnings since its release.

‘The Family Star’ hit theaters on April 5 in multiple languages but failed to impress both critics and audiences. Many criticized the film for its uninteresting screenplay, contributing to its lackluster performance.

On April 7, Sunday, ‘The Family Star’ reportedly earned a mere Rs 3 crore net at the Indian box office. This disappointing figure is concerning, especially considering Vijay Deverakonda’s status as a prominent actor in the industry. The film’s earnings on Saturday and Sunday also remained stagnant, with each day bringing in around Rs 3 crore net in India.

As of now, ‘The Family Star’ has accumulated a total of Rs 11.95 crore net in domestic box office collections. The Telugu version of the film recorded an overall occupancy rate of 26.94% on April 7, with most footfalls coming from evening and afternoon shows.

The film’s performance during the upcoming weekdays will be crucial in determining its theatrical longevity. With morning shows recording an occupancy rate of 17.75%, afternoon shows at 32.24%, evening shows at 33.74%, and night shows at 24.01%, the film’s fate hangs in the balance.

Despite a promising debut day with earnings of Rs 5.75 crore, ‘The Family Star’ has struggled to maintain momentum. However, its slow but steady progress on the second day suggests that word-of-mouth and curiosity might drive more audiences to theaters in the coming days. In terms of occupancy rates, the Telugu version of the film saw 28.62% overall, while the Tamil version secured an 18.39% occupancy rate.

Written and directed by Parasuram, ‘The Family Star’ is a romantic comedy starring Vijay Deverakonda and Mrunal Thakur. The film was jointly produced by Dil Raju and Shirish under Sri Venkateswara Creations and reportedly had a budget of Rs 50 crore.

Gopi Sundar composed the music for ‘The Family Star,‘ with editing by Marthand K Venkatesh and cinematography by KU Mohanan. Despite the film’s lackluster box office performance, its cast and crew have put forth their best efforts to deliver an entertaining cinematic experience.
