If it hadn’t been preordained in her destiny, Sanjeeta Bhattacharya would have been watching Jawan at the theatre as an audience member. Because she wasn’t in town when the audition call came through, the performer almost missed her chance to be a part of the movie. As she looks back, Sanjeeta is now overcome by the affection she and the rest of the team are receiving for Jawan.
Sanjeeta revealed to indianexpress.com that she was in Kolkata for a gig when she received a call from Mukesh Chhabra’s office asking her to audition for a movie. She acknowledged that she was unsure and declared that she would conduct a test in Mumbai before completely forgetting about it. By pure chance, she was given the opportunity to perform in Mumbai, and the artist chose to apply for the audition.
It was my first film project, and I had no idea who was involved or how it was made. It was a comfort in retrospect since I didn’t put any pressure on myself, and I wasn’t even anxious. After that, I forgot about it until, a few days later, I received a call informing me that my casting as Helena had been confirmed. When I pressed for more information, they said it was SRK’s film with Atlee. She said with a loud chuckle, “That day, I understood what they mean when they say “pairon ke tale zameen khisakjana (the ground fell beneath me in shock)”. Sanjeeta continued, “It felt surreal to see the film’s massive success because I was associated with it for two years.”
